The Best

The most powerful charging station is set to go live this winter, Oxford sited at Redbridge Park & Ride. The first site opening of 40 fresh new planned sites in the UK. 10 x Fastned 300kW points and 12 x Tesla 250kW Superchargers. A 10mW site with fast and ultra-fast charge units.

How Did it Happen?

A result of a partnership existing between Oxford City Centre, Pivot Power, Wenea and Tesla. Excellent to be aware that the Fastned charges are able to add 300 miles of charge in 20 minutes.

To be the most powerful site of its kind within Europe, accessing a maximum of 10MW. In perspective this is adequate power for 2,000 residences.

Energy Superhub Oxford Project

It plays a role in an Energy Superhub Oxford project, supported by the Government and driven by Pivot Power themselves. It goes without saying, but the hub will be energised by renewable energy 100%, in part by a solar roof, partially employing battery storage.

The CEO of Pivot Power, Matt Allen, confirmed: Oxford is one of the 40 sites we are developing across the UK, combining up to 2GW of battery storage with high volume power connections for mass EV charging.

Fun fact in relation to the electric car brand giant, Telsa is set to put in 12 of their 250kW Superchargers.

The City of Oxford as a Location

Time has proven Oxford to be a resourceful city, wrapping arms around change and technological advances, therefore naturally, a location for the most powerful public EV UK charging station. Tom Hayes, Green Transport and Zero Carbon Oxford for Oxford City Council spoke up:

The Oxford station will be amongst charging hubs planned out by bp pulse and Gridserve across the United Kingdom.

For Oxford to go zero carbon by 2040, we need to electrify a lot more of our transportation.
