Kia EV9 has been given the title of World Car of the Year 2024 Award

The highly anticipated Kia EV9 has secured the prestigious title of World Car of the Year 2024, triumphing over tough competition from the Volvo EX30 and the BYD Seal. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the shortlist showcased three distinct all-electric contenders, highlighting the growing diversity in the automotive industry.

Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, expressed immense pride in the recognition, emphasizing the significance of the EV9 in Kia's evolving lineup and its acknowledgment by esteemed journalists worldwide.

To qualify for consideration, the EV9 underwent rigorous evaluation by a global panel of 100 automotive journalists, including Auto Trader's Editorial Director, Erin Baker. This scrutiny ensures that only vehicles meeting stringent eligibility criteria are in contention.

In addition to clinching the coveted World Car of the Year title, the EV9 also secured the World Electric Vehicle of the Year Award, surpassing competitors like the BMW i5 and the Volvo EX30. Meanwhile, the EX30 claimed victory in the World Urban Car category.

The accolades didn't end there; the new Toyota Prius was honored with the World Car Design of the Year Award, while the Hyundai Ioniq 5N claimed the title of World Performance Car. Rounding off the list, the BMW 5 Series was crowned World Luxury Car, showcasing the diverse range of automotive excellence celebrated by the awards.
