The very first electric ship inland to be launched. It features swappable batteries. It has a producer named Rotterdam based Zero Emission Services, explaining how its exchangeable energy containers work: aka swappable batteries. It's not just cars.

Alphenaar today sailed for Heineken, the Dutch Beer Company.

The Battery

The batteries work for new and existing inland vessels. Ships must be fitted with what you call, an electric propulsion line. There is no emission, basically fuelled up with green energy, the powertrain makes sure that no C02, matter or nitrogen is released, they make minimal noise.

How it Works

Companies use pay per model- ship owners rent out the battery container. Place charged batteries, fully charged, when the ship reaches a terminal point, change them for a new set within a span of 15 minutes. Much like cars, they charge quickly when organised in good time for your journey. 2.5 hours, in this intriguing ship's case.

The Idea Behind the Money Spent

Look at this like you would a bill for home energy. Pay for a connection fixed charge, and more for the added energy additionally.

Who?

Alphenaar is an electric inland ship sailing for Heineken and CCT- their company for transport.

Not Just Automotive

ZES's aim is to bring inland shipping within the Netherlands to an emission clear status. This clarifies the advantage of electric charging for not just the automotive industry, but for the transport industry in general. Inland shipping is now beginning to launch, and make use of green energy, following suit of the vehicle industry.
