News: Driving In The UK Heatwave: Hack To Keep Cool

Most cars have this button and it's designed to keep you cool when it's hot outside.

There's a little-known button in your car that can keep you cooler, save you money and help with allergies and air pollution this summer - particularly handy if you're driving in the current UK heatwave!

The air recirculation button is a pretty standard feature on most cars, but not many people know what it is or when to use it. This button takes air from inside the car and circulates it through the air conditioning instead of pulling in fesh air.

So, the perfect time to use it is in the summer when the outside air is hot.

If your car has been sat baking in the sun, don't turn it on straight away. It's best to open your windows, turn on your air conditioning and get rid of the hot air trapped in your car.

Once it's cooler, here's why you should use the air recirculation button in your car:

  • It keeps you cooler

Because this feature stops hot air from outside of the car getting in. Your car will stay cooler during your journey.

  • It's better for your AC unit

As the AC isn't pulling hot air from the outside, it's working at optimum level, allowing it to keep your vehicle as cool as possible. It also reduces strain on the system and the air filters will stay cleaner for much longer.

  • Stops pollebn and air pollution getting in

If you're a hayfever sufferer, recirculating stops pollen from getting into the vehicle. It also stops bad smells and air pollution from getting in, so if you're stuck in traffic behind a lorry or next to a smelly field, using the feature is better for your health.

  • Saves fuel

With fuel prices at record highs, any way to save fuel must be a good thing. Having recirculation on assists your air conditioning unit, so it isn't working as hard and won't use as much fuel/battery.

With all this in mind, this mysterious little button is a bit of a game changer this summer. It will hopefully save you some money and keep your car and passengers in better health!
