The numbers for the biggest selling cars up and down Britain for 2018, so far, are in. Which car model do you think takes the top spot and why?

A new year of car sales have begun and the reports for January are in. The Top brands of car manufacturers in the UK usually dominate the market year after year with few fluctuations in popularity. As you would expect, hatchbacks are the main type of car to be purchased by the masses. But which ones are they? Which are the ones that you see roaming the streets the most?

As we mentioned, the cheaper hatchbacks are the cars that usually fly off the shelves faster than any other due to their cost efficiency and convenience. However, the sheer class of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class shows just how popular it is. A premium saloon that looks fantastic and sports a sexy interior, no wonder it squeezes on to the list.

The first SUV on our list belongs to Fords Kuga in at number 9. Ford is always one of the most popular car manufacturers in the UK, and it's no wonder when they produce a range of affordable cars which handle and ride as well as this one; The fourth bestselling SUV in Britain.

Ahhh the Corsa. A Vauxhall model that has stood the test of time. Fantastic as a nippy, affordable little A-B'er and as a solid choice for that first car to introduce you to the roads fresh after passing your  driving test. Vauxhalls main rival to the Ford Fiesta appeals to a wide range of car buyers and offers a stretch of variations for those that want a powerful 202bhp VXR version or the steady plodding 1.4 litre 74 bph version. It looks like SUV sales are picking up if this first month of 2018 is anything to go by. The Kia Sportage is a new entry to Britain's top 10 best-selling cars list.. It's a superb, affordable SUV that has done fantastic in January, but will it do as well later in the year with a few absolutely cracking SUV's being launched?

 

6. Mercedes-Benz A-Class | 3358 registrations

A stylish premium hatchback the Mercedes-benz A-Class climbs up the rankings stretching its lead over rival car models the BMW 1 series and the Audi A3. However, a new model is set for release in showrooms soon which could either accelerate sales of the A-class or hinder it. But if you want a good amount of luxury, style and power in a compact vehicle, this thing is perfect!

Prince of the small SUV's in January is the Vauxhall Mokka X. It goes head to head with other leading small SUV's like the Nissan Juke and the SEAT Arona. Many people consider the Volkswagen Golf as the best hatchback in the world, and the newest version puts a good claim to that title!
