This time featuring as the first DPD all electric city. This means, all parcel deliveries will be carried out by EV cars. Nine more cities will follow suit later this year.
Investing the Initiative
Supported by a £111 invest for these electric cars, 25 percent of United Kingdom population by the time 2025 comes around, will be enjoying green parcel delivery in 25 towns. This is the promise of Vision 25 anyway. The purpose being to save on C02 within the UK.
The Bicester eco-depot will be the hotspot for all deliveries. With command of 40 electric vehicles, fifteen thousand parcels will be making their rounds within the city.
As this site becomes adequately operational- the site may make available 250 fresh jobs for people wanting a career at the depot. The place was confirmed to open in June 2021 by Victoria Pendleton. You will know of her as nine times world champion cyclist on the track, and double Olympic. The site is the highest in sustainable statistics- for a facility at DPD's UK network.
Speaking on the Matter
Olly Craughan: DPD's Head of CSR- spoke on the matter: Our whole approach to sustainability is about joining up the dots beyond just buying electric vehicles. And that means working with others on initiatives like city centre emissions schemes and measuring air quality. With this approach, we will be helping reduce emissions one city centre at a time, starting with Oxford.
Head of CSR- Bicester is the greenest and most sustainable facility in our UK network and it is right that we start the roll-out of our 25 green cities here, at a time when Oxford itself is taking a huge step with the Zero Emission Zone pilot due to be launched later this year.
Head of CSR- Cities mentioned shall be; Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kingston-upon-Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton.
