Mini Remastered by David Brown Automotive could be the answer to our mini-mini dreams
Today David Brown Automotive launched, the Mini Remastered, an original Mini retro-fitted with refurbished and improved mechanicals, a subtly modified exterior and an interior upgraded to offer a modern premium finish to and all time classic.
Re-built, by hand in David Brown Automotive 18,000 sq ft Silverstone, it features all new smoothed out panels, addition structural beams to improve stiffness and extra sound proofing, so you might actually have a chance of hearing calls over the hands-free. Yes, that's correct, hands-free in retro mini. David Brown Automotive has flung the 60s style icon well and truly into the 21st century, by adding a built-in infotainment screen, a push button start, a four-speaker stereo system, USB sockets and remote central locking.

You can't deny that squeezing 50% more power from the fully-rebuilt 1.3-litre engine is excellent news, as is the reconditioned four-speed gearbox, plus upgraded suspension and brakes. Giving the retro-fitted mini a very comfortable yet sporty drive.
Each customer is invited to choose the colour of their contrasting roof, their interior hue and wheel design. Though, if you can't be bothered, two launch editions - ‘Inspired by Cafe Racers' and ‘Inspired by Monte Carlo', this latter option featuring a 92bhp engine - will be offered. Each of these special editions will get a run of just 25 units a piece, but David Brown Automotive is hoping on selling between 50 to 100 of the Minis overall each year.
So, how much are we looking for one of these pieces of new automotive history? Well you'll be looking to set back £75k onwards for the ‘standard' Mini. Admittedly, it's a lot for a ‘new-old' Mini, but then it's a rather cool new-old Mini.
